An A6 compressor will swamp an R4... but that is old-school. I used to be able to frost the windows on a hot summer day with an A6.... And I will deny any such usage, but R12 refrigerant....

They probably don't offer heavy duty A/C because regular A/C works ok for a good portion of the country further north or in coastal (cooler) areas.

And it is probably a royal pain to have separate types of cars for sale. I know they had a fit about making special lower emissions cars for California.

I live in NJ and don't think we need heavy duty A/C here. But I can understand why the southwest and gulf coast would require one. Yes, heat/humidity combo is nasty at times (like yesterday and day before), but Canadian cold fronts usually bring colder air quite often.

In India, I would always book a separate taxi with heavy duty A/C. Its needed there.

Very true! And for AC noobs, he is not talking Audi. I have a couple of them, one with the original Frigidaire decals. These compressors have enough capacity to cool tour buses and GM used them in pretty much everything for decades. To my knowledge they still make these compressors for commercial vehicle applications. Arguably the best automotive AC compressor available for capacity and durability.
