I can certainly understand and appreciate that but.... sometimes too much of a good thing is good for nothing.

Any way you look at it, it's none of your business how often and for how long your neighbor does these things.

Same here. And it's always at 7 AM which is 30 minutes before I (normally) wake up, so I'm losing sleep over it. If you get your neighbor to adjust his habits, let me know how you did it, please!

The most bizarre piece of the story isn't that someone with lots of free time likes to keep their vehicle clean.
The weird part is that the OP cares so much about something insignificant that doesn't affect him, that the answer was not to just ignore it, but instead dogpile the neighbor with strangers on the internet.

Meguiar's Gold Class is excellent. Mothers and Adams are equally as good.

Thanks, I only wax it once a year, because it sits in the garage most of the time, and never sees wet weather. My dad turned me on to the NXT years ago.

i know a handful of diehard motorheads and detailing geeks who do quick details or waterless washes regularly throughout the week. But they drive Porsche's, BMW's, Corvette's... all in dark colors which magnify dust & spotting. One guy down the street uses a CR De-ionized water sprayer to hose down his Shelby GT500 every other morning when he gets back from his run. His Mustang doesn't fit inside his small garage with all the junk his wife has. And sometimes I'll use the Optimum No-Rinse 2 bucket method when I don't have time for a full wash.

fwiw, I've always been under the assumption that ammonia-based soaps like dish soap will eventually degrade urethane plastics like auto clearcoats (or even hardwood floor finishes) and cause hazing & cracking. Maybe new formulations are tougher, but car wash soap are so cheap & readily available that it seems silly to use Dawn or Palmolive.
