Haha, 2nd time this was asked in this thread. The coupe has 4 seats, while the more popular convertible has 2 seats. The newer generation's rear seats are actually usable and can fit 2 booster seats or a person up to 5 feet tall.

Look at a Ford C max. They get good reviews, cost around 25 new, 18 used, and get 41 mpg, and can carry almost as must as an SUV.

I'll be starting an evening MBA program soon and won't have time for too many home projects for the next 5 years. I don't need the truck anymore. I'll be driving mostly on twisty local roads, 25-40 mph so I want something that's somewhat fun to drive (no SUVs or pickups). I'd prefer a wagon, hatchback or sedan. I'll be driving a lot more to get to class and work, so something with good gas mileage is a plus.

I'm looking for:
1) budget $15-30k, but lower is better
2) fun to drive
3) better gas mileage (20-25 mpg city)
4) needs to fit 2 high-back booster seats in the back
5) current generation cars. i don't like driving last generation's model for more than a couple years.
6) I prefer AWD, but would consider FWD cars if they're not too small. I drive a lot on backroads that get a lot of snow and ice in the winter. My town doesn't like to salt either, although the surrounding towns all salt their roads.
7) reliable. i don't want to bring it to the shop twice a year.

My favorite cars that I've owned in the past were:
1) 1996 Nissan Maxima (manual) - very quick, good highway car. did not corner very well though, so it might not be good for the current roads that I drive.
2) 2005 Saab 92 x (manual) - loved the wagon style and handling (pulled 0.85g on the skidpad)

Cars I've been "looking" at over the past year:
1) Mini Cooper
2) Subaru Outback
3) Audi TT
4) BMW 3 series
Yes, I know those cars are all over the board.
We had a Chrysler that went in 54 times from 2007-11. For me two times a year is like a Honda. Got so used to that thing breaking, but it was fun when it worked.

An A3 or A4 should do it - fun to drive plus you get to keep up with the street...

I see 2011's with out of warranty miles selling for less than $20k around here. Is the tune for '13 and above, or would it work with an '11?

I had one of the 2nd gen SHOs for about a year, and I loved that car. Had every option at the time, and pretty respectable performance for the time. But this new EcoBoost is crazy....

I can see I'm going to have to join that forum.....haha!

You can tune all of the 4th gen SHO's (2010-2015). If you have 93 octane, I'd go with Livernois' 4X tune. It requires a specific spark plug gaped at .30, a $50 3BAR MAP sensor to replace a 2BAR, and a 160 thermostat. With these mods, guys are running 12.7's a 107mph. Add down pipes ($700), you'll be at 12.5 at 110mph. Not bad for a 4300lb AWD luxury cruiser.

2010-2011 SHOs for low $20s with under 50k miles are great deals. Compare to a 2010 G37x/TL SH-AWD/A4, you get a lot more car for the same money. I test drove a G37xS and it didn't do anything for me. No cooled seats, no massage seats, no heated steering wheel, no auto parking, no power pedals, no remote start, no rear heated seats, no fold down rear seats, etc. You get the idea. The only thing it had on the SHO was auto up/down windows for the rear doors.

The SHO got her weekly bath today...

My brother had the M35 and traded that in on the G37, and both cars handle nice, was pretty quick and a nice exhaust note as well. I drove that G37 back in july when he came down and I was very impressed. That thing got off the line pretty quick and sound so good doing it. Also it had more than enough high tech features for the average person, who really have to have heated steering. I love the SHO also and can see myself in one of those also, I took long look at one before I bought my 2011 5.0 That infiniti is no slouch in any areas and I have seen anywhere from 5.2 to 5.4 in the 0-60 sprint.

Here is mine with my 18" Pirelli Ice & Snow package. Going to be a tank in the snow this winter!

Not baller status like the great looking 20s":

18" barely fits with the large brakes LOL

Ignore the white grease on the tires, haven't washed them yet since receiving from Tire Rack.

Wanted to get the Police Interceptor black steelies but they were much more $$. The thing would have really looked like a police cruiser lol.
