Leave it to our sensationalistic junk-media to turn "Ontario County Sheriff Philip Povero, who announced on Tuesday that the investigation is continuing, has said that his initial findings have turned up nothing that would indicate criminal intent in the crash at the Canandaigua Motorsports Park" into a headline that reads "Criminal charge possible for Stewart in Ward death."

I swear half the media outlets would immediately go bankrupt if most people suddenly had more than two brain cells to rub together.

Sorry that went over your head.

Looks like Ward tried to grab the wing of Tony's car, which puts him right in the path of the huge rear tire.

Man, watching that again, look how close the car in front of tony came to hitting him!!! You could also see the car twitching after he passed him, like he had to actively avoid the kid.

Kid was stupid, natural selection weeded him out.

That is an excellent snippet. Clearly shows that the car in front did almost hit him (and it does seem like he is beefing with that driver also) and it certainly looks like Stewart's car only moved in reaction to the incident, not to cause it. Why the heck would he grab the car as it moves by. Obviuosly, he was not thinking too clearly.

I don't think he grabs it so much that it just caught him in the face and broke his neck. He just happened to get hung up on it for a moment or two. Those wings stick out wider then the main body of the car.

You made that obvious in your previous post.

So there's one religion that you're not affiliated with. Is your plan to make a few hundred posts like this until you've narrowed it down to the school of theology that brought you to this viewpoint of how the afterlife works. or are you going to make it easy and just give it up?

Or are you going to simply admit, either explicitly or through your silence, that you really haven't put any thought into it whatsoever and were just stating how it would work if you were in charge?

Please note that sprint Cars on a dirt track are not that easy to control. They are steered with the throttle to turn and the steering wheel is used to force them to go straight.

My sympathy to Mr. Stewart and condolences to the kid's family even IMHO the kid killed himself by his actions.

I'd never heard of either of these guys before Sunday. From what I've read since then I have no problem concluding that Stewart is a redass, and probably just a giant, all-around *******.

Nevertheless, it was the kid's fault.

At the base level, a driver charged another driver- who was still in a moving race vehicle, and made contact with vehicle and died. This is not the streets of Anytown, USA or NYC where pedestrians are the norm and vehicles must give right-of-way. This is a purpose-built facility for racing cars.

Racing deaths happen enough they're not rare. It's only because it involves a big fish in a little pond that most of the people (on the Internet) are reacting to. They have little to zero experience with racing in general, let alone a subset.
