I live in NYC and my parents have graciously offered to take over the last 12 months of my lease since I don't need a car where I live and their car lease is ending soon (win-win).
Has anyone ever transferred a lease to someone out of state NOT using a lease transferring company? I can find no information on how this would be handled in Michigan. In fact, I can't even find any information about registering an out of state lease vehicle in Michigan.
I just want to get a sense for the steps I need to take. I know my parents will fill out a credit application with the car company to be approved. Once approved the lease transfer process starts, but I don't know how that works if they live in Michigan, but the car is registered in NY. I may be over-complicating things...
