For an entry level remote it has a lot of features. Am I reading it correctly that you can set the starter on a timer? This is for a Legacy. I am mindful of someone messing with electricals but these guys are good.

The unit wholesale cost around 160-180. So he's charging you 120 bucks for labor

300 is a little high. This is not even an alarm so his labor should be quick.

I think under 250 would be fair.

But for 300 and the installer does a clean job, and guarantees his work. Then I rather pay the 300. Cause all it takes is a few times of not working right then it becomes frustrating..

Almost all of these unit has some kind of timer. It's nothing new.

250 is way too much. I just added a GPS smart start to my Clifford Alarm and the unit cost 150 and install was just 150. And this thing tracks my truck texts or emails if the vehicle is tampered with or moved or for is opened. I can unlock lock and start and stop vehicle from anywhere in the country or go online and do it that way too. I would look into doing a smart start. I won't ever own a vehicle without it
As for the brand Clifford or Viper.
250 is way too much IMO.
