It has to do with managing their CPO inventory when the vehicles come off lease as well as managing extra 'unseasonal' inventory. It's not unusual to see odd lease terms on AWD models that end in the fall/winter - presumably so those vehicles end up back in dealer inventory when their demand is greatest. Same with convertibles. Those leases are typically meant to end in the spring and summer.

^^ But does't that depend on when the lease date starts?

Yes. That is why the odd lease terms are incentivized during certain times of the year. One of the best deals in recent history was a sub-$500/mo lease on the M3 convertible for delivery in winter 2010. 27 months, the cars would be returned at the start of convertible season.

In general the manufacturer finance companies adjust lease terms to fill in gaps in the lease return cycle. If they don't have enough cars coming off lease at some future date, they'll offer lease incentives to fill the gap.

A lot has to do with rising value of used cars . Dealers make huge profits selling used over many new cars in reality.

Is there a source for the best lease deals at a given time? At one point I knew there was a great deal on a Infiniti FX.

Yeah...That's been true for awhile, and lease returns make for great specimens on the used car lot as far as age and mileage.

Where do you find these leases? Do you have to flip through the classified section of the local paper or is there a website similar to cars.com where you pick the model and see what lease offers are available?
