I say this;

You have 3 choices.

1 Slow down etc
2. Let me drive
3. Let me out.

I used this on two different bosses.
1st one. Strated driving better.
2nd one. This is my car i will drive how i want. I said "NO PROBLEM. It is my life. LET ME OUT! NOW!
he was pissed but slowed down.

Only drivers I've ridden with who were scary, weren't speeding. They were just terrible drivers, could barely stay in their lane, tailgated the person in front of them 100% of the time, speed was constantly changing for no reason, were holding the steering wheel totally wrong, etc. I have never said anything because none of those people were people I would be riding with again, so I didn't bother.

Also keep in mind it might just be you. My father has "scared" a couple people, but he's been driving racecars for 30 years. He's a better driver then 99.9% of people, yet he's had people want to get out of the car. He doesn't excessively speed either, was just his style of driving that unsettled the people I guess.

So true. I've usually had the issue of inattentive folks.

I've been the passenger of a few at least worrisome rides... one that stands out in particular was a JCSO (Johnston County Sheriff's Office) detective who wanted to question me on something I witnessed... the whole drive, he was ****ing around on his laptop, swerving all over the road.

I do not scare easily, even from the passenger seat.

Yet, my cousin managed to do it, drifting a Dodge Neon around a turn at 70+, heading towards plenty of curbs, trees, poles. etc. He made the turn in this ancient, bad condition Neon, but it had me worried!

Otherwise, my most scary moments have been with me at the wheel!

Yes it is me. I refuse to ride with someone that scares me.
Driver #2 thinks it is alright to text while on the freeway at 70 mph while driving a F350 with a 5th wheel trailer on it and a UTV on the trailer. He runs almost at every stop sign he sees. Gets speeding tickets monthly and has an expensive lawyer tat takes care of them. Yes it is me!

My way of dealing with bad drivers is to tolerate it...once.
After that, any time that I have to go anywhere with one of these tailgating, inattentive, swerving-all-over-the-road drivers, I simply say, "Let's take my car".

Same here, except I say, "I'll meet you there" most of the time.

Firstly, I define "bad driving" as someone who does anything at all that is the reason any other driver have to use their brakes.

The worst, was once riding with my best friend (driver) in a major shouting argument with his girlfriend, in heavy fast traffic. I finally got so concerned I stopped hiding in the back seat and started saying firmly (not shouting), "please pull over".
After about 3 times, the girlfriend recognized the danger and stopped engaging him. She just turned away, got quiet, and then very quietly started echoing me.
After a couple of shouts trying to get her to re-engage, he pulled over, fumed for a few minutes, cooled down, and all was OK.

This method made use of the fact that it's really hard for one person to argue by themselves.

Hard to say hen you are on the clock and with the boss.

Rode with a guy in a little Fiat convertible imo about 1972. He is speeding like crazy on a secondary asphalt road and we came to an S turn. I knew it was there and he didn't and the speed limit was 35mph and we were doing about 50 mph. I yelled slow down and he didn't. We entered the bottom of the S and made that part as we entered the top of the S the car spun a complete 360 and up on the side of the road we went. Lucky there was no ditch. We slid right up and parallel to a barb wire fence. We came to a stop and he looked at me with a shocked look. He looked even more shocked after i swung my left fist side ways and hit him in the jaw! He wasn't too happy about it and neither was i. He took me home and i never rode with him again.
