I narrowed down my choices for a used SUV to a 2007 Jeep Compass and a 2006 Hyundai Tucson. Miles and price are about the same. I would appreciate any input and opinions. Thanks!
I wouldnt let my worst enemy drive the Compass so I guess it has to be the Tucson between the two. The Compass has to be the worst driving auto made in the last 10-15 years.
Between these two cars, it would be the Tucson without question. The Compass is simply crap. That was right around the time that Hyundai made drastic improvements in quality too.

Despite the high quality and durability of the old jeep Cherokees, Chrysler has
come up with some really bad vehicles since. I'm not crazy about the Tucson either (we bought a 2014 Escape) but I'd go with Hyundai before a Compass or Patriot. The new Cherokee (replacing the Liberty) is now out, and the debut was delayed months due to the problems with the transmission. Every one has to be road tested before release to the dealers.
Neither vehicle is a good choice in my opinion. The Compass is arguably one of the worst vehicles Chrysler has ever produced. The Tucson certainly wins any comparison between it and the Compass. However, while the Tucson wasn't bad in that particular model year, it was nowhere near as good as the offerings from the other mainstream brands like Chevy, Toyota, Honda, etc. You also do NOT get the 10 year 100k powertrain warranty when you buy a used Hyundai. That warranty is only good for the original owner. Basically, you can do better than either of those, but better is subjective and heavily influenced by budget.
