I've been looking on line at the junk yard web sites for prices for an OEM radio for my Nissan, and they wanted $80-$150 for a double din. I remember going to that same yard for my wife's CD player for her Dodge Neon I paid $25, but on the web site they wanted $40-$80 for the same thing. Why the huge price difference?
Does the online price include shipping? Some junkyards have an "entrance fee" so maybe that online price builds the entrance fee into the price? Why not just call the junkyard to find out?
As a previous poster said, call them and ask.
I've given up on buying at my local yards as the prices they quote seem to vary with whatever mood the counter person is in that day.
Here's my tip of the day. I now buy 90% of my parts online, and with way cheaper pricing. If you're looking for OEM parts, it's a great site to browse thousands of recyclers. They'll even send you pics, if you're nice to them.
I must have it "good" with the local yards around here. I prefer the you-pull-it yards. One of the yards I go to has $79.95 complete engines, $59.95 complete axles, $10 radios...etc. Everything is flat rate, model irrelevant.

Just to compare. My last purchase was a brake caliper for a C5 Corvette.
Local yard price $125
Car-part.com recycler $50 + $20 shipping
Just looked up a CD unit for my 2006 Honda Ridgeline without NAV is still between $75-350

See above - does your junkyard have imports or are you in the middle of nowhere with nothing but Ford and Chevy pickups?

Everything, especially that yard and it is in city limits. What is nice about it is that they are constantly replacing rows with new inventory, all the picked apart cars (old rows) go to the crusher. They have a very efficient system. Like I said, I think i'm lucky!
I checked the same junk yard's site, and if I pull the part my self it's $22.50 (according to their price list), I wonder if the parts online have been worked/ inspected some how?

If you don't know how to remove the radio, it is the time and labor that goes into it. Some vehicles require half the dash to be removed before you can even get to the screws that are holding the radio in.

You'd be shocked how easy it is. One screw holding the bezel, and four holding it in place
