Since Chrysler doesn't have cars in the Chevy Sonic or Spark class, let's compare their other models.

In the compact segment Dodge and Chevy did almost the same engine scheme. The Dart does the 2.0 as the base engine then goes for a 1.4L turbo for the same power but with more torque and MPG. Cruze did 1.8L and a 1.4L turbo with the same power as the 1.8L but with more torque and MPG. While the Dart has 160 hp to the Cruze 138 hp, the Dart is larger and weighs more so 0-60 and 1/4 drag times aren't that different. I think Dodge made a mistake with the Dart GT. The 2.4L, while offering more power and fun, isn't worthy of the GT. It's competitor at GM is the base model Buick Verano also with a 2.4L. What GM did right was offer the Verano the 2.0L turbo. That's the power numbers the Dart needed before slapping a GT on the Dart. Call it an SE if they wanted to use the 2.4, but not GT. Both are based on European cars so both handle corners. Dart has more room than Cruze, especially in the back seat. Cruze doesn't try to pretend to be a sports car the way Dodge does with the Dart. Interior materials appear better in the Dart than the Cruze. The customizable gauge display is nice but time will tell if it's as reliable as the analog gauges. Personally, I like the Cruze because it isn't trying to be something it's not. It's a compact commuter sedan. Perhaps they'll make a sporty model in limited numbers, but their volume seller is the commuter sedan. The Verano turbo isn't styled flashy trying to be a sports car but it does put out some pretty good numbers on the track. This is closer to being a grand touring sedan than the Dart GT. Dart has the looks and handling, but it lacks real performance to match the looks.

Chrysler 200 vs Chevy Malibu/Buick Regal. Both start with 2.4 to 2.5L engines with similar power. Where they change is the optional engine. While the GM sedans opt for the 2.0L turbo, Chrysler sticks with the Pentastar 3.6L V6. I'm tossed on this. I believe the V6 is the better choice over the turbo 4 in terms of long term reliability but I'm not so sure the 200 needed this much power. Couldn't they have developed their 3.0L Pentastar V6 used in Asia for the 200? It would still be well over 200 HP (near 250) and probably be more efficient and less torque steer in FWD models. Not sure on which has the better interior. Exterior styling to me goes to GM until you get to the rear where designers gave up and went home. The 200 has the booty win. The 200 is like Jennifer Lopez, ok from the head down until you get to the booty then it pops. Be interesting to see a race between the 200 AWD vs the top line Regal on a track with left and right turns.

Chrysler doesn't have anything in the Impala/Lacrosse. But they do have RWD. On this, I leave it up to those who know more about this. I'm not that familiar with this group. How does the Chevy SS compete with the V8 300/Charger? How does the Challenger compete with the Camaro?

The Impala is somewhat luxury, The 300 is a luxury car, technically all of chryslers line are some form of luxury- so how did they not meet the impala/lacross segment, with what is probably the better car by hp, and drivtrain options, alone, not to mention it is a touring car designed to take twisties.

The Impala & Lacrosse are both large FWD sedans. A better comparison would be Ford Taurus, Hyundai Azera, & Toyota Avalon. The Chevy SS is a RWD sedan, Cadillac CTS if you want to go the luxury route.
