I bought a 2013 Toyota Rav4 limited last year and am having buyer's remorse. There's nothing wrong with the RAV4, but I'm wishing I had spent the extra money and bought a mid-sized SUV. I'm thinking that a Toyota Highlander or a Nissan Murano would meet my needs. Has anyone who has shopped and compared these 2 vehicles give me some feedback? I know that Nissan is coming out with a re-designed 2015 Murano's. I've always been a Toyota/Honda person so I'm leaning toward a Highlander.

Stick to the toyota product. Highlander is my pick.

I m not a Nissan hater, But between the two. I go with what's been proven by decades.

I think the Highlander goes up against the Pathfinder. We have a new Highlander and like it. A lot of car for 35 and change. The Murano is always heavily discounted as are most Nissans. The Highlander has a 3rd Row and is a bigger car in my opinion. We have a Lexus RX too, guessing like the Murano, and it is much smaller than the Highlander.

I would shop them both and figure out who gives you the best deal. Trading in a year old car is often financial suicide.

Good luck.

The new Highlander is fantastic. Fully loaded, it's analogous to the Acura MDX for thousands less. All the same tech, radar cruise control etc. Nice interior too. It has a more boxy shape which means better cargo room and visibility.

I am not a fan of the Murano. Poor visibility, premium gas in a non-premium vehicle and a whiny CVT.

Not always. You end up eating the sales tax, but sometimes it's surprising what a dealer will do if you are willing to walk away from buying a new car.

Coming from someone who's currently driving a nissan cuv, I'd go with the highlander hands down.

Can you be more specific?

I do believe Muranos had tranny and transfer case issues. Go Toyota.

Nissan's cvt's dont have the best reliablity track record. They're very finicky and require more maintenence than a traditional auto. Toyota makes some of the best auto trannies in the business. They also hold their value much better than Nissan.

I own a Highlander 2014 and loving it! I always fill its tank up after driving home from any trip. It's a very comfortable car with all the features you ever needed for a family mid-sized SUV. The gas mileage is average and the suspension plus driving experience is just so Toyota. Go for a highlander and you will love it. Here's mine.
