It was the only one built. The couple nstanding by it are the owners. He bought it for $16,000 about 10
months ago. It had been in a garage for many many years. He polished and waxed it and put on a clear coat of paint. Did some minor engine work and it started right up. It has 40,000 miles on the speedometer. He was offered $300,000 but didn't take it.

An easy $500k without the hassle of paying 35%+ in auction fee's, waiting for a good auction to be scheduled, plus all the paid middle-men that would probably get involved could be worth the fast sale for the quick money.
Better yet, find some way to do it all tax-free...
I can't blame him for not accepting the offer. Just because he paid 16k does not mean that 300k is a good offer. He could be well off and not need the money. Why take the first offer that comes your way. It might be worth considerably more, who knows. One thing I do know is that 300k seems like a lot of money but when you compare it to some Packards models that sell for 250k and more than one were made it might not be so out of the park.

Even Barrett-Jackson only chargers 8% to the seller.
Turning down a quick $300k is just stupid. I'd of countered at $500k, and sold in a minute if they bit. It does kind of look like a funky hearse...
You don't know the owners. Maybe they don't need the money at all. Somebody living paycheck to paycheck would indeed take the 300K offer because they need the money right away. A millionaire on the other hand, would not fire-sale it. They would wait it out and make sure that they get the maximum amount of money for their investment.
Well most people value how beautiful this world used to be. (How pure) and its hard letting GOOD QUALITY go for ANY PRICE!!
