I've floored our SUV's fairly often to get up to speed quickly, but the days of flooring my sports car are long gone, just has too much horsepower now and accelerates too quickly to really floor it on public roads, and I haven't had it on a straight closed track since I modded it. Someday I'll run the TX Mile in it and have it pegged.
I would NEVER do it to a brand new car or one that was not warmed up. Never had a sports car but a couple of V-8s and some 5 speed manuals which I would red line. With carburetors , I agree that they need to be blown out occasionally . Had to do that with a couple cars back years ago.
Why do manufacturers advertise zero to 60 in so many fast seconds, why do they show their new cars speeding/racing out in the country, why do you think they build them that way, maybe because they were built to do so.
Warning, make sure you do it with good tires. Cheap tires or worn tires may blow out on you.
No that is not me, but I have done that in Vegas. Sports cars are like athletes or like the human body ... you need to work them hard ... make some sweat!! Good for the muscles & good for the car.
PS Happy Thanksgiving to all !!! Be thankful we live in a country where you can do pretty much what you want !!
That explains why its said police attention is drawn like a magnet when they see one. Good job of profiling really: LOL. Happy thanksgiving
This may sound like a strange question, but I'm just curious what percentage of people have.
I own two cars, an 08 Altima and a Corvette. I've never floored either one. Seems like, why would I put this stress on the car for no reason?
I floor all of my cars all the time.
Why do you have a Vette? Who do you think it is so hard on your car to floor it?
