how bout a little F.I.R ( farm implement rust ) .. what the heck is this thang ?
Looks like an old steam tractor/ peanut shaker. It would separate the straw/hay from the peanuts once they were dry. The unit would have been placed in the middle of the field and the dry goods brought to the shaker via a flat skid pulled by mules. The wheel on the side would have had a leather strap that ran to the power wheel on the old steam tractor.
The pic below shows an old steam tractor that is hooked up with a strap although you can't see the strap. The wheel just in front of the back wheel mounted on the side of the tractor is the power wheel. That's where the strap/belt rides to provide power to the thresher. When I was a kid, this is how we did it but we used a gas powered tractor. Later on, the strap/belt was made out of a nylon fiber cord and rubber compound. It didn't break like the leather ones did.
that thang gotta Hemi in it ? .. well at one time it mite have .. i lived the heyday of early 70`s hotrodding and i only ever saw one car with a Hemi in it .. a 69 RT .. Hemi`s are the whats for in muscle car restoration today but they were`nt doodly squat on the street scene back then ,,nobody had one .. and about as much fuss is made over the LS6 454 Chevelle .. the only fellow who had one back in 70 blew the engine 3 times before the 90 day warranty was up .. 428 mustangs ruled the street .. that`s my opinion ... but i was there ....
