Was it staged? I mean how can anyone be that dumb? I thought it strange that it took so long for people to come out and check their cars.

Not sure of the usual customs in that lot, but it is a bit of d-baggery to park on the curb like that behind the cars, especially in the snow.

However, given the amount of empty spaces, anyone with a clue should have been able to work it out.

I doubt it was staged. I've seen similar (just as bad), clips on YouTube. Painful to watch!
The driver wasn't just dumb, they also didn't understand about fixed rear axles and steerable front axles
It's the same way with folk who try to learn how to steer a fork-truck (with fixed front, steerable rear). You have to visualize how it pivots, and some people just don't get it.

Just think about how many thousands of drivers there are just like this all over North America and cringe.

+1
Personally, even if it is allowed, I would NEVER park at the curb--perpendicular to other parked cars--the way that the owner of the "victim" car did. Even if I have to walk an extra block or two, it is preferable to having a moron like that back into the side of your car.
