My wife's dad and grandfather both could get me a family discount for products in the Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep family. Even though the discount would be huge, I'm very hesitant to even consider any of these based on the horrible reputation that automotive family has.
Are there any reliable models that I should consider?

I would just keep them for the warranty period. I've heard too many issues with Chrysler products to buy one myself as I prefer to buy a few years used but I do like some of their cars from a styling and performance stand point. If it has a warranty, you don't have much to worry about.
IMO, the vehicles are now better than there reputation, as Fiat has made some significant strides. That said, due to so many years of neglect, there is a wide range in their products in terms of build quality, fit and finish, etc, from one model to the next, and model year to the next. You have things riding on anything from Fiat platforms to Mercedes platforms, and also a wide variety of powertrains?
Fairly open, but my priorities are quality/comfortable interior; decent gas mileage; and some cargo space.
The Jeep Cherokee seems to be somewhat of a fit, but there are so many horror stories about Jeep that I'm wary. Back in the 90's, my parents bought a Grand Cherokee and had to take it back the next day with a bad transmission.
It seems that the biggest problem with Chrysler products are the people that assemble them - lots of shoddy work that leads to warranty repairs, but after that, they seem okay.
Of course, those were an AMC engine and Toyota transmission ... so not much Chrysler in them.
