Do you think they have a point? I don't. I think they're over worried, but I'm happy to entertain others thoughts about this. see the article:

Good God, what a bunch of paranoid imbeciles. A "police stalking app?" I'm sure that when some sociopath gets a bee in his bonnet to go harm a cop, his first course of action is to grab his phone, open his Waze app, and look for reported police locations, instead of just walking/driving around until he finds a cop. And it's not like it tacks some GPS tag on the squad car that lets people track your movements wherever you go; it reports a single, fixed location for a short period of time. And guess what: if your location was reported on Waze, it means you're already publicly visible.

Fkin' morons. These are the people we hire to "serve and protect" us?

No they don't have a point, they know that they have no point. They are pulling the 'safety' card like we see time and time and time and time again. It is a lame, last ditch effort. Their "point" is about as valid as me saying I use Waze for safety, that way I can slow down ahead of time instead of slamming on my brakes when I see the trap, potentially causing a rear end collision. So sorry they are butt hurt over people not interested in being robbed by local government. If Waze goes down, something else will replace it. Welcome to the information age.

The "tracking" is simply a matter of touching the screen when you see a police vehicle. It really offers no live tracking capability and is inaccurate enough that the best it provides is a moment in time snippet of information. This is a non-issue. Police wear uniforms, operate in marked vehicles, and use open radio frequencies in most cases. They will be visible. If this is not acceptable, then it may be time to seek a different career.

Waze does no such thing. It does NOT track the police. Drivers do. They force to take "police" warning choice off Waze, we'll come up with a custom one that everyone will know what it is. Say, a "bear". as that's what truckers do.

They cried the same excuse when everybody had a CB radio in their car and the speed limit was only 55 mph.

organized crime does do retaliatory strikes against police. to say that the police are paranoid when they are being assassinated, is not rational.
paranoid is unreasonable fear. banning a cop tracking app is not an unreasonable request. why do you need a cop tracking app friend?

If such a statement is true; Then perhaps they should consider that handing out frivolous tickets is not worth risking their lives. This is how Americans decide if they want to be governed in such a way, obviously we don't. I guess its time for them to figure out financial problems in a more productive, and according to you, less dangerous, manner.
