My aunt is in her early 70's and wanted to get AAA membership. The issue is, she doesnt have a license(does have state issued ID) but she wants it for discounts when she travels(hotels/restaurants). She doesnt drive but she does travel a lot with her friends (they usually take tour type buses)

If not, can someone who does have one, sign up and add her on? I was going to sign up & if she cant do it on her own. I just wasnt sure if she was eligible since she only has a TX state issued ID.

I checked out the website but couldnt find anything that stated someone w/o a license was eligible.

I do not think so, but they often allow the discount even with someone else's card. Many of hte discounts are just to get you in the door, and some places will give you the discount even if you do not have a card.

I don't see why not? Membership is for the person.

Of course you can join/buy AAA without a license.
Why not?

Your best bet is a family plan - all have to claim the same address.

We have had AAA for 0ver 40 years and they never asked for a driver license nor even the details about the cars we owned.

The Club membership is different from their insurance.

Does the OP's aunt belong to AARP?
I ask because AARP membership results in at least as many discounts as AAA membership does, and may actually make her eligible for more discounts than AAA membership.

Agreed - I have never had AAA ask for my driver's license number for my membership.

A family member that did not drive (he was visually impaired) always had a membership as he wanted to carry it in case there was ever a problem while someone was driving him some place.

In the case of Marriott properties, we have found that a senior discount (not related to AARP, just 62+) provides a better discount than the AAA discount. That may be true for other hotel chains as well.

Yeah, like one person said...the membership isn't tied to the insurance. Plenty of discounts to use it for.
