Why would he want the car he drives everyday to remind him of a bad decision?

I wonder the same thing Most people have to take out a loan to buy a good car( not a clunker). Then you'll have people here saying buy a $800 car and will promise that it'll run everyday like a new car. I have yet to see a good running $800 car that is reliable day in and day out.

With good proper maintenance in its previous life, an $800 or even a $500 car will last for years more. Only my '88 becasme more expensive to repair than it was worth, but it WAS a cheap model.

I keep all my vehicles in good running order. I was once a the dealer on a recall for the '06... since I was maintaining it there while it was under warrantee as well, the service guy knew me.

Someone had a MAJOR problem nearby in the service center and was having a fit! Seems his vehicle had something fail that routine maintenance would have caught and corrected early on. The service guy said to me that that "would never happen to {me}you". I asked why. He said "because you maintain your vehicles, Its a maintenance issue pure and simple. That guy never maintained it and now blames us for his mistake."

Simple, take care of your vehicle, it will take care of you.

There are a lot of savvy car enthusiast here so I figured I would ask you guys.

I have a car that I don't want anymore that I'm very much upside down on. I have a Pontiac 2009.5 G6 GT with 160,000mi on it and its worth about 3000-4000. I'm young and was very stupid when I bought this car my credit isn't the best and I don't have much money to put down...I've tried selling this car privately before (when it had around 110k on it) and nobody wanted it then and I know they wouldn't want it now, let's just say on the loan I still owe about 12grand (Don't judge too hard). Do you guys think there are any dealerships that would work with me? I hear people say Feb is the best month to buy cars. I just don't want to go into a dealership and be embarrassed so am I wasting my time trying to get rid of this car and trying to get into something better? I'll be around to respond to post, if there any comments or questions! thanks!
You still owe 12K after 6 years!!!???? That's one of those pay me now or pay me later situations and you're paying later. Nobody is going to give you 12K for a 3K-4K car, private, dealer, or otherwise. At this point, why do you want to sell it? Just tired of it? So what's your choice? Sell it at a 8-9K loss, then what? Get into another loan for 30K? My suggestion, keep it, double up on payments, if you can, and get that monkey off your back.

That you are promoting insurance fraud (or suicide, depending on how you mean this...) either says something serious about you or about OP's situation, not sure which.

Tell that to the college student who just landed a job that requires him/her to have reliable transportation to get to/from work.

In this situation, financing a brand new economical vehicle would be ideal. Low payments and reliable transportation.
