One of the things I don't yet have in my tool-kit is an ODB-II scan tool. I'd like to get one that shows live data from the sensors themselves.

What do you all recommend?

I have a few Actron scanners. Their low end scanner readers don't do live data, but some of the middle range (~$100) do.

I think I have an Actron CP9185 that does it

I don't see why a Bluetooth transmitter and the Torque Pro software for your smartphone for about $35 can't do just about everything you want. It will store a unique profile for each vehicle you use it for.

I use one of those, ODBC II BlueTooth, on both my Toyota and Porsche. The port is right under the left leg area dash on each (and may be on every other modern car, too, for all I know). Connects right up to my Samsung, via OBDLink software, providing whatever info is available. I think that protocol will soon be swept aside by more-modern standards, but it still provides a moderate amount of useful information. Saved me trips to the dealer, twice thus far, thus paying for itself.

ScanTool makes good equipment. I have their bluetooth OBD-II link and love it. Setup was easy, connects to my phone to monitor all kinds of live data. It also comes with Windows software to connect it to a bluetooth enabled PC.

Some of these cost hundreds of dollars. Got myself the ELM327 Wi-Fi OBD2 OBDII WiFi for 15 bucks. Teamed with the iphone gives me live reading and more data than I know what to do with.
