I thought you said the pickup never swerved at all? It swerved while the Camaro was alongside and moving across the line dividing the lanes.
The pickup swerved when the Camaro crossed the line dividing the lanes and almost hit the pickup. The white lines in between the lanes are ten feet long. The rear of the Camaro was ten feet from the rear of the pickup. There is no way the pickup is only ten feet long. The Camaro, driven by a drunk, had not passed the pickup when it left the right hand lane.
The pickup driver moved to the left, over the yellow line, to keep from being hit by the Camaro. He had two options: speed up and get out of the way of the drunk in the Camaro, or brake and maybe get hit by the truck behind him. He chose to speed up, but he had to brake almost immediately because of the vehicle in front of him.
There is absolutely no way the Camaro driver had any chance of safely inserting his vehicle in front of the pickup.
I have no idea what you think the shadows prove.
Watch it again. Pay close attention to 36-37 sec when the Camaro first crosses over the line yet the pickup doesn't swerve or even flinch. At 38 sec he finally swerves only after accelerating and catching up with him. You can even see the shadows touch each other at this point when he swerves. When they are side by side, the shadows line up also.
A car that is ahead of you suddenly crosses in to your lane and you think the best course of action is to speed up? Sorry but that is the DUMBEST thing anyone could do. Most people would swerve left or brake, both much smarter options than speeding up.
There are many traffic laws in the country that don't see widespread enforcement because the police have bigger things to concern themselves with. They still remain the law unless or until the legislature decides to remove them from the books. It's illegal to go 56 in a 55 mile per hour zone, as well, but the police have bigger fish to fry in many jurisdictions, so they let it slide.
Your picture shows the same thing as every other picture that has been posted, a Camaro whose rear bumper had not cleared the front bumper of the pickup truck.
Why stop someone going 1 mph over when they can and do stop people going 20 mph over when fines are larger. The point is that they do enforce the speeding law. But why won't they enforce lane changing when you claim it's so egregious and dangerous?
I wouldn't have even stopped. So the dash cam guy is nice than I am.
IF I would have stopped, I would NOT mention the dash cam. But WOULD have let the Camaro guy know I saw it and will testify for YOU -- that the pick-up sped up to keep you out, and then SLOWED to box and block you.
