How common or popular is blue metallic for a color on midsize cars and what adjectives does it convey?

Blue in general has never been a very common color, but in America at least, black/white/grey/silver are the perennial top colors.

Dark metallic blue it seems to be becoming more popular as a nicer alternative to black. For those in the know, dark blue has always been a step up on black.

Then there is the lighter metallic blue that we see on many more cars as an alternative to silver.

Why is light blue uncommon and would it be difficult to sell a car of that color in the future?

I think it will be more difficult than selling a car with a more common color.

Not quite as popular as metallics/b/w but still very common, about the same as red.

Doesn't really say much.

I have this exact color on my CX-5, a small SUV. I like it. To me, it's a "gray man" color. 5 seconds after I merge into traffic, I disappear. It is not drab. It is not vibrant. It does not ask for attention. It does not dodge attention. A few seconds after you see it, you forget it. I personally love that about it.

(front windows have since been tinted to match the back)
