The slow accelerating thread brought to mind another topic that I thought might for a good discussion, and that's completely oddball cars you love or consider to be a dream car...the kind that all your friends look at you and say "are you on crack?!?! Were you dropped on your head as a child?!?! What the heck is WRONG with you?!?!?" I gotta believe I'm not the only one like this out there

In my case, one of them has been a Chevrolet Chevette, for pretty much my entire life. My Grandparents had one when I was real little, then my father drove it for a while, and eventually sold it. A few years ago, I finally bought one for myself, but had to sell it shortly after due to a cross country move and nowhere to keep it later. Plus, I bought it as a super clean, rust free car in Arizona and I knew having it in Michigan would destroy it pretty quick since I wouldn't have a garage to keep it in. Now that I'm (hopefully) moving soon to a place with a LOT more garage space, I'm hoping to be able to find another clean one to add to the fleet.

No, it's not because I consider it to be a poor man's 'Vette, lol. There's just something about that basic box that appeals to me. I can certainly afford more..heck, I've got over a 100K wrapped up in all my vehicles right now, including a classic muscle car, a classic V8 4x4, and a modern gas guzzling V8 truck...yet, for some reason I just want that darn econobox car, lol.

I bought a 1984 Chevette new and drove it 14 years, ran up 229,000 miles on it, loved that car.

My favorite oddball car would be the NSU Prinz.

I still want a Classic MINI.

No engine swaps just a basic 850 or 1275 engine.

Had a 1975 Datsun B210 for 11 years.

While not a great car and very slow, it served it's purpose. Unfort, since they were rust buckets, they're just about extinct.

hoss, i dig your pintos, i have had two in my lifetime, a 72 and an 80 rallye. i wouldnt mind another one sometime though. i also like my fairmont 4dr sedan, and i wouldnt mind having one of these to play with;

imagine that with a late model 4.8 LS motor, mustang ll front suspension 8" ford rear end with disc brakes all around, and a 4l60e or turbo 200r4. it would make a neat daily driver.

My dream car has always been a 1991 White VW Cabriolet with a white vinyl top. That's all I want. When I lived overseas, I saw one - European version for sale, and I so wanted to buy it and have it shipped back to the U.S., even if my driver seat was on the right.

But yes, that has been my dream car since...1991. I almost had it, almost in 1993. It was new, they'd actually taken it off the showroom floor ready for me, but since it was my first car and I was under the age of 21, I could only be financed for a new car. I cried as I signed my teenage life away for a brand new Toyota Tercel. People have said get a newer version, but nope...I just want this one particular year. I think it had to do with the New Gidget, but I can't be sure.
