There are other designs that do the same thing. Wife wants to try one to help here get in and out my car. She's 4'10" tall and has spinal problems. Using a cane in this case isn't easy. You'd have the cane handle at an odd position for pulling yourself up. The position of the device and door hinge makes getting up easier because it's a sturdy foundation that won't move and handle position is below shoulder height but slightly above the waist. The cane handle height would be around chest or shoulder height and not always a secure foundation.
Yes, because we all know that elderly people never forget and do something by habit, like slam the door.
Or younger folks either, for that matter.
It really isn't all that useful. The contortions to get hold of it obviate any potential benefits.
The only people who can really speak to its usefulness are those who have bought it and use it. The rest of us are just speculating. They make a ton of gadgets like this that we think are gimmicky but sell. Shark Tank is full of them.
How is B&H helping with selling this useless widget?
"B & H" isn't helping because it is long gone, but some particularly dimwitted people will see those ads and say something along the lines of...Oh...Bell & Howell...I remember that brand name...
They may not remember that B & H made & sold mediocre-quality movie cameras, but they will remember the brand name, and that is all that counts for the hucksters selling this device.
