I have a 2015 Lexus is350 F-sport and it didn't come with a front license plate holder but I do have a license plate for the front. I'm moving to Maryland, is that state required to have a front license plate. I was going to put the license plate on my front dashboard. Any thoughts?
Lexus makes a front plate bracket. MD requires that you get it and put the plate in it. On the dash is not legal, and looks worse than a properly mounted one does. Don't worry, other Lexus cars in MD have them too. No one will notice it, except the cops.
Regardless of whether a bracket is available as an aftermarket or dealer-added option, the car itself is not MANUFACTURED from its point of origin with the ability to organically attach a front license plate.
In other words, buy the bracket since the car has the ability to support the plate or get a citation.
We moved from a one plate to two plate state and kept the front plate on the dash propped up against the window. All it takes is one LE official to take issue (as what happened to us). We didn't get a ticket but we did get a warning to have the front plate properly affixed. We had it done at a dealership after being told by more than one person that trying to DIY can result in damage to the air bag sensors.
IN MA. if you are issued 2 plates, which everyone is now a days both plates have to affixed to the car.
I feel for you OP, I have a single plate that I got in the 80's and I'm holding on to it tightly due to my sports car having no place to put one on the front and jerry rigging some kind of bracket for it would look stupid.
If you don't have a front plate and should the police can stop you and fine you, also when you go to get your yearly inspection sticker the plate will need to be on or you will fail.
No, not too bad. Some cars just aren't designed for them. I'm not surprised that many enthusiasts don't run them.
Yep, with this model and it's huge grill many owners don't bother with a front plate and hope for the best. For the most part they have never received a citation for no front plate.
Just how it is. In the grand scheme of thing, not having a front license plate falls just below jaywalking
The look of the car ?
What then will other people think about you ??
Pictures will be posted on social media.
Your reputation could be ruined, no one will want to hang out with you any more.
You will be known as the person with the ugly car.
It's a slippery slope.
I'm sure the police will understand.

You must not be a car enthusiast. I'll just leave it at that.
Not sure of th specifics of your car, but many MINI and BMW owners have purchased plate brackets that screw into the tow hook threads. That way you can at least remove the plate for showing off the car or resale Ina state without front plates. Some even think the usual off center location of this type of install looks better than sticking the plate on the bumper. I've also seen people buy euro style custom plates with their license number and some cops will let you slide. Usually the cars where American plates look worst the euro plates March the bumper better.
