The 1987 Jeep Wrangler YJ

1986 Suzuki Samurai

Two great little capable 4x4 that I wish were still made today with no frill and just a basic simple little 4x4

The 87 YJ's had carbs and I'm told, problems and the Samurai was good for flipping, in a bad way.

Actually it was shown that those tests were really set up. Unfortunately Suzuki never recovered from the damage CR did to the Samurai on the rollover fiasco. Too bad because it could of been a great contender to the Wrangle and Toyota FJ. I have a buddy who uses one as a hunting/ trail buggy.

I had a Sammy when I was a teenager... I would hate to drive one to work everyday but I have fond memories of it. They were good little trucks that were very underrated.

I've also owned CJs, TJs and JKs but never a YJ... guess I never did get over the square headlight thing! It's true you could build up a killer YJ, but off the showroom floor they were definitely the low point in the Jeep's lineage with crappy axles, low ground clearance, infamous parts like the Peugeot transmission and carbed 4.2 L engine.

They're still better than any non-CJ/Wrangler Jeep brand product though, and were WAY cooler to drive back in the 90's than the Samurai.
