And just an FYI, I get my parts from Amazon or Advance Auto parts using a $40 or 30% off coupon code. You don't need OEM parts, which is a rip off.

While I try to stick to OEM when it comes to certain parts like motor/tranny mounts and suspension parts, I always go aftermarket with brakes. Been using basic Bendix pads and rotors for the past 15yrs on all my vehicles and have never had any issues with them.

Be careful with the coupons at Advanced Auto parts. They mark up the price of a lot of their parts.

I do my own brake pad and rotor changes. It is very simple. Check youtube for videos on how to do the rotor replacements. It is not that difficult. You could do this entire job for less than $300 if you did it yourself. And once you figure out how to replace the pads you can do them yourself everytime. Screw going to the deal for this easy task.
Where is you torque wrench?

I personal don't use it. I have one but I just go by feel. I'm not saying that's the way to go. You can pick up all the tools at Harbor Freight for a reasonable price.

Yes I agree. I usually cross refence prices once they are in my cart with rockauto and amazon to see if its the best deal. I would never buy anything there at full retail price.

Advanced Auto is good because you can get it same day. You usually save a little bit with car batteries and coupons like $40 off $100

Rockauto is odd because of their different shipping warehouses. Shipping can get quite costly if they send it from different warehouses. Otherwise prices are rock solid.

Yeah tell me about it. I bought a CAPA front bumper on amazon for $110 delivered. The same bumper was $40 at rockauto but the shipping was $230.

OP, this is what you do. You find a good mobil mech that will come to you. Ask around local parts stores, they always know one. None of the jobs listed requires any special equipment like lift or powerful compressor. Guy will show up in a box truck with anything he needs anyway.
Then you drive to a locla parts store and buy all the stuff there. Fortunately, Civic parts are so abundant it's unbelievable. Set of quality front brake pads is around $40 at O'Reilley. I bought new rotors for a Civic for $20 each,, yes, twenty.
Then guy charges you for labor time and some gas money. The way I see it it should be maybe 4 hrs total labor, and even that is a stretch.
Also, he may tell you some good words like - there's nothing wrong with your calipers or rotors. I think someone is simply Dairy Quining you using your ignorance. I am well familiar with this because of my in law's Corolla. They stubbornly keep doing regular maintenance at dealership and every time they end with litany of "suggested repairs" running into at least $500 and up and then me laughing my gluts off at it and MAYBE replacing something.

We just bought 4 new tires for our 2014 Hyundai Elantra...plus oil change and air filter change and "lifetime alignment" {$180-worth it as we will have the car for many years or 200K miles+, whichever comes first...probably the mileage as my spouse puts about 22k on a year.so about 8-10 years.}
Parts:$373.74; Labor: $266.07; Tax{.08} $50.38; TOTAL: $690.19. The tires are 65K all season Tires. P195/65R15

Total was $690.19, minus the $180 for alignment, =about $510. no brakes. Unless I missed it on yours I didn't see an alignment charge.

The last brake job I had done in the spring on my 06 Kia Sedona was total of about $650.00.

So both jobs, at a nationally known Complete car care center local location come to $1340; Or $1180 without alignment.. Cheaper than yours. I'd say you got/getting ripped off.

ANd for BOTH those jobs, I think I paid too much. I am looking for a new shop. I think they have gotten too big for their britches. also they change out crews periodically, and this CREW SUCKS! i think they overcharge, so i/we are looking elsewhere.

Dunno, I'd go elsewhere if I were you, if not now, in the future!
