They will pass the smog tests after the software is reflashed, but they will feel grossly underpowered and rough compared to before. And if an owner keeps it as-is so that it will cheat on the smog test, guess what, it will pass and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

Media hysteria!?!?

Seriously? It was headline news for all of two days!

Either way it was a big story and an important one; a corporate conspiracy to evade the laws of both Europe and the U.S. by rigging the tests of 11 million cars. That ain't the stuff of man bites dog I don't know what is.

Wait until NOBODY wants one then you will get your cheapest price!

Volkswagen diesels are popular swaps into older Toyota trucks. I've stated numerous times on this forum that I will gladly take one of these VWs from an owner who feels to guilty to drive it any longer

It's my belief that there are no shortcuts and no "deals" in this world anymore....They've already all been had.

One of the few good things about living here

Edit: Some people have started getting lowball offers for their gas VW's from people claming they're worthless though, which is ridiculous.

And if anyone thinks they are not cheating in the gasoline powered arena, they are naive. We will soon have more scandal.

They can love them all they want but if they don’t pass inspection they are dead weights. And who knows what is going on in the Audi/Porsche line up.
