I'm going to post some links to cars we'll be checking out tomorrow. Please give any feedback (if you would/wouldn't buy that car (and why), or if it is priced too high, any known issues with that model, etc)...

Our goal is to get 2 used vehicles. Ideally a sedan that has good gas mileage as a daily driver for hubby to go to/from work and then the 2nd vehicle an SUV or minivan so that the fam can travel comfortably. We are willing to get 2 sedans though as long as trunk space is good and if they are more reliable brands (honda, Toyota, etc). Our total budget for 2 cars is more or less $15k (depends on how much they'll give us for our broken Ford Escape lol)

Any feedback or insight you can provide is much appreciated. Thanks!!

The Subaru I would buy, especially since it has a manual transmission (I could tow it behind my motorhome).
I, personally, would not even consider any of the others except maybe the Mazda minivan.
But, that is simply my prejudices speaking.

Also, if I were to buy any of them, the dealer would have to agree to deliver the vehicle and all the paperwork to Boomtown, NV so I could avoid the CA taxes and registration. I bought from CA dealers twice, and got stuck with the fees and taxes, never again!

I'm interested in hearing your "prejudices" towards the others. What in particular do/don't you like. Want to research and take all things into consideration

I'm in CA so I can't avoid fees and taxes unfortunately

Hondas are too expensive to maintain, IMO. the parts are ridiculously expensive.
I rented a Toyota a couple months ago, while our car was in the bodyshop. I hated driving that thing.
Audis are also expensive to maintain.
I have owned Subaru Outbacks, both in the sedan version and the wagon. They were great cars! I have thought about getting a Forester, but we like our little convertible too much to get rid of it!

Interesting! I owned a Honda Civic and found it to be a great car, although tbh I never needed to do anything aside from scheduled/recommended maintenance. What Toyota did you drive and not like? I've never driven a Toyota before.

Subaru seems to be a good brand from what I've researched. Do you know if they tend to be on of those companies that makes cars you can drive till 200k miles?

Don't Subarus spin rod bearings, burn oil, blow head gaskets and eat up wheel bearings?

There's not really anything on that list that says buy me.

I would not touch that Audi with a 10 foot pole and my wallet on a chain. Just a money pit

Nearly any modern car will go 200,000 miles or more with merely adequate maintenance. My Dodge 1500 pickup just recently rolled over 200K, and the dodge 3500 I had was over 276K.
The Toyota I rented was, IIRC, a Camry. Or maybe it was a Corolla. Whatever. It was noisy, rough riding, and just simply uncomfortable. For comparison, I normally drive a Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible.

My biggest problem with a used Prius is the cost of the battery pack. If that thing needs to be replaced, it will likely cost more than the car is worth!

We have owned two Subarus, both Outbacks. Our daughter owned a Legacy. Two of our sons have owned WRXs (and they drove them HARD!).
None of us had any such problems.

Everyone we know IRL has said not to touch dodge at all. So interesting to see such differing opinions. But you said yours was a truck. I feel like most people with truck love theirs regardless of make/model. I haven't met a person IRL with truck problems the way people have issues with dodge sedans and mini vans
