I have always loved Mustang's & I would love to have this bad boy if I had the funds.
However I am disappoint in the 2016 GT. For me THIS should od been the GT & the Shelby should if had another 100 or So horsepower & the R should have even more then that. If they would of made this the GT, Chevy would be scrambling to come up with something quick to compete with it. Give the GT this suspension & brakes. & another 75 horsepower.
My wife wanted me to buy the new Shelby GT350 for my son. Last week I drove to the Ford dealership for a test drive, but not one was available. They told me to come back the middle of next year.

That's because the 2015's were sold out before even being delivered. The 2016's will be made in greater numbers, but won't show up for a few more months most places.

Just a thought here but you might want to enroll your son into a high performance driving class.

GT starting at $48,000 isn't going to sell. We're used to bigger horsepower numbers because they're coming from a supercharger, and another 75 just wouldn't do it anyway. The GT500 already had 662 hp in the last Mustang anyway, so barely breaking 600 wouldn't be impressive in the least. The rumor mill has it the next GT500 which most definitely is being tested will be twin turbo and north of 700. Not my cup of tea exactly, but certainly more impressive than a weak implementation of what tuners already have out that your Ford dealer will install for you that are in the same ballpark as the last GT500 for less money.
This impresses me much more as it's well beyond the capability of your average tuner. A 527 HP NA V8 reving to 8,200 is something entirely different than that. It's the successor to the Boss 302 after Chevy went and embarrassed that with the Z/28. It's a Z/28 without being a total stripped club racer that even with the all your normal luxury features costs $10,000 less, weighs less, has more power. You can also have it for nearly $30,000 less if you don't opt for the R weight savings and track/luxury stuff and it's still better equipped although probably not with quite the chops of a Z/28 without the track pack. Even with all the luxury features and without the R weight savings, it's still lighter, more powerful, likely very close as a club racer and nearly $20,000 less.

Damn well done, Ford.
When I heard that Ford was coming out with a all new Mustang I was hoping that it would of been more like the Mustang above. Ever article I have read & every video I have seen says that same thing, the new Mustang feels like the old one with a better ride. I have noticed more Ecoboost Mustang's then I have the GT at least around this area. $48,000 for a Mustang isn't going to win people over at that price. Ford will sell EVERY 350 GT that rolls off the line! Same goes for the R These cars are awesome! Can't wait to see them compared to other sports cars in the same range. I think Ford is going to do VERY well!
A bone stock 435 HP 5.0 GT is more Mustang than 99.9% of the world could drive at 10/10th's anyway.
It is ton of bang for the buck at 31K brand new. Not sure extra stripes and trinkets are worth 17K more for the GT350. 5K in performance upgrades would get your bare bones GT right up to spec with the GT350

I believe it would cost you more then that just with tire/wheel up grade not t mention the brakes that the 350 uses. The brakes on the 350 are very costly even to find something similar in performance, we haven't even touched on the engine & the exhaust.
