There is AWD and there is AWD.
Subaru has proprietary symmetrical AWD permanent on system that will outperform any other make. Personally, I find Crosstreck to be very well designed appearance wise. Looks a bit Dodgish, but it's an eye catcher to me every time I drive past one.
The Subaru has a following. Just as Honda has.
The resale or trade in is good for both Honda and Subaru.
You should look long term. Whether you plan to keep for 10 years (or longer) or trade in a few years.
I'd pick the one that holds it's value and is exceptional in a trade in.
Which would you buy? A 2016 Hyundai Tuson or Kia Sportage or Subaru Forester or Subaru Crosstrek?? All with AWDs! What is your opinion? Thanks
I was just doing a ton of car research and out of those options I would pick the Forester. It will hold its value, has the most reliable AWD, you can get a base model for a good price, and it gets top safety awards.
I need serious snow vehicle because I'm considered "essential personnel" and must get to work even in a blizzard or state of emergency. I just put a deposit down on a Crosstrek. None of those other SUVs can't touch it in snow, mud, etc. I test drove a Forester but could not find a comfortable seat position. It is ac it more powerful than the crosstrek.
BTW, only the Subarus and the Honda are actually full time AWD.

I hope you are planning on buying snow tires? If not your car is less capable than a FWD vehicle with proper tires in the snow.

One reason that I would go with the Subaru Crosstrek is the height of ground clearance and getting in and out of the vehicle.
