On the driver side of our Subaru there is a bit of shaking going on & it seems to be coming from the tire/wheel. The car had an alignment not to long ago. The rim isn't bent as we though it might be within I would say... a week I would say the car was out of alignment again. The shaking has got worse to the point where the drivers side hood is shaking bad. Not as it it's going to fly off but still. The guy who did the alignment believes it to be the steering rack. Does the sound right? It does it once you hit about 70.

Did it suddenly start happening? Could be something as simple as a wheel weight that fell off and now your wheel/tire need to be rebalanced.

Tie rod end? Your alignment guy should spot that. If the rack is bad he shouldn't have been able to do an alignment. A bad tie rod would be the same.

Tire out of round?

I agree, it sounds like the tire is out of balance either due to a missing wheel weight or a bad belt.

The guy who did the alignment was told that we thought that the wheel might be bent he checked it & said it wasn't I don't see any weights missing on the rim....it has been going on for about a month now.
I know cheap tires can do it too these are cheap tires.

How did he check it? It's not something you can always tell just by looking, you might notice if one of the outer wheel weights fell off, but you're not going to see if an inner one fell off unless you took the wheels off the car.

Unless he actually ran all your wheels on a tire balancer, then he can't make that assessment.

I'd vote for out of round tire. AKA torn belt. You may hit a rock on the road or one of those lovely white/yellow/blue plastic things they have installed on tarmac and it can rip the belt.
Easy way to spot it is to jack side in question up in the air and hand spin the tire. I used to take a piece of chalk close to treads and hold it steady and if it hits chalk in one specific area, that's where the bulge is.

A few ounces of missing wheel weights will not cause vibrations so bad that your hood is visibly shaking; furthermore, your alignment is off, again? If he is correct in that the tierods, ball joints, bushings and struts are all OK then, yes, a bad steering rack would be a logical next target.

Btw, was FlatFix or similar product ever used on this car? Liquid injected into the tire never really gets solid and moves around in the tire, unbalancing it badly. I know, I went through this before.
