Hey anyone one here thought of getting a 12V 3,500btu Auxiliary cab Heater? I have one in my F250 and it works great to get the chill off and the start the cab defrosting while I wait for the engine to get up to operating temps and scrap the windows.
Can find them at RV or commercial truck parts stores
Mechanical things do not care about the wind chill factor.
Ambient temperature is what matters.
I meant to say having high winds in -30 or -40 degree conditions with blowing snow getting jammed underneath the hood of exposed vehicle open to the elements kills the batteries and wreaks havoc the getting the glow plugs warmed up as well having to worry about fuel gelling is also and issue if you have so summer blend Diesel still left in the tank.
Modern diesels have little to no trouble in the cold.
What are you basing this on?
I'm not sure about diesel cars, but when it drops below 0'F, plenty of our trucks' fuel gels up. It doesn't help that the fuel filter housing is exposed to the elements in many of them (although that makes changing the filter on the road a lot easier )

Diesel fuel that is a winter blend shouldn't gel at 0 F ... that is weird.
