Niece and nephew each have their own car now. Youngest is 16. For Christmas I got them each a small "Justin Case" roadside emergency kit. Not the best but we tend to set limits of around $20. Told my sister my idea before buying and she agreed it was a good gift, at least for her peace of mind. Includes one year roadside assistance. It's the kind of gift I hope they never have to use. One of the gifts for my wife is that window hammer that acts as a handle to help someone get in and out of cars. She has spinal problems. It also has a seatbelt cutter and a built in LED flashlight. Wish I could get her a new car and a new spine. Told Brother-in-law he could later swap out some stuff in the kits as he sees fit since he use to be an auto mechanic (now does Diesel engine repair for oil field companies).

Every year my one Son gets me a years gold membership to AAA. Only had to use it one time for a battery jump, but it feels great having it when we are away from home.

We also exchange gift certificates for our favorite specialty auto parts places because all 3 of us build our own cars and we can get whatever we need later on. So much better than buying something the other person may never use.
