I've been tailgated at 80mph and even at 93mph+ somebody came up behind me and I was actually impressed. I moved over let them through. That's what people do at race tracks with zero speed limit. You should always give courtesy to the faster car.
On wet roads and with a biker behind the tailgating car not knowing you're about to cause an instant roadblock; you'd really chit if you found out your daughter was the passenger on the back of the bike and you were responsible for sending her to the Emerge with major injuries through your little act of road warrior, eh? I bet you wouldn't want YOUR passenger telling your wife you did it on purpose either. He'd own your azz forever. LOL.
Next up; your passenger, fully aware of your intent beforehand, afterwards decides you're an easy mark for a law suite for deliberately and criminally causing him neck trauma that forces him to become a disability claimant for which the government comes after you for re-imbursement of pay-outs.
No worries though, your 12 year old drag-azz Cavalier only has 12 more payments before she's all yours.
If there is something I hate is those nasty tailgaters. There was this ricer that was driving around town like he was cool, squealing his tires and driving like a moron... I was driving through town and he was riding my ass, like literally about 2" from my bumper... It was starting to **** me off how much of an ass he was being so I tapped my breaks to get him off my ass... He backed off and then came up really fast behind me, almost hitting my car. He then got even closer, and I was like "That's it, this kid is going down."
My friend was in the passenger seat and I was like "You buckled?" He was like "Yeah, of course I am." I was like "Good, HOLD ON!!" and slammed the breaks. Normal people would, in turn, slam on their brakes, swerve to get out of the way, do any avoidance strategy possible not to hit the car in front of you, but this kid? No... He slammed right into the back of my car and pushed it about 20 feet. When we finally stopped I had to drive my car off of his (he hit me so hard, this car was stuck on my car and I had to drive off of it).
I looked in my rear view mirror and saw his car totaled. His hood was smashed up to his windshield, whole from front the car totaled... I grabbed my digital camera and got out of my car ready to beat the **** out of the kid. I looked at my car and there was no damage at all. It bent my license plate and totaled his car. He hit my bumper and trailer hitch, it demolished his whole entire car. It leaked antifreeze, transmission fluid and oil all over the road.... I started laughing and went and sat back in my car and waited for the police.
Thanks for putting not only yourself but everyone on here the uses the roads in danger by potentially causing a massive chain reaction pile up accident on the Interstate Freeway or Highway smarten up and do what Me007gold recommended pull over to the right to let them pass or switch lanes.

Good job. You committed a crime. You shouldn't be allowed to drive on the road with others.
If someone is tailgating you, you safely slow down until the gap between the person behind you and yourself is appropriate for the speed you are traveling. You do not slam the brakes to cause an accident. Your hazardous driving is ridiculous. You are expected to do your best to maintain an appropriate distance with the cars behind and in front of you. Simply apply the break safely and compensate of the distance.
Wrong. You maintain a safe distance with the car in FRONT of you. You have no control over the driver behind you.
And if he swerved out of control into a bunch of pedestrians oncoming car or something else? Just because he's driving like an ******* doesn't justify you driving like an *******. Assuming you are not camped out in the left lane either ignore tailgaters or pull over to let them pass.
Pretty hard to "pull over and let em pass" on most city streets........that also creates a hazard.
Let me guess, based solely on your post, you speed and you tailgate and you're inclined to road rage.
You do realize that the bolded part above could just as easily apply to the tailgater, right, and they could be tailgating someone who could easily be set off in a fit of rage at the idiot who is tailgating them and happen to be armed as well, don't you?

Your responsibility as a driver is to reduce the likelihood of an accident. By slowing down to a speed that allows for the gap between the car behind you and yourself to be a safe stopping distance, you are doing just that.

While I don't agree with the OP, discussing the remote possibility of there being a careless driver/rider behind the tailgater is a stretch.
