A turn signal is a warning not a permission request. Remember that, it says I'm getting over.
I have to admit, although it is not the best practice, I am guilty of this. I have a 5500 pound truck. I cannot see all that well to gauge openings. You want to speed up to cut me off, you may learn a bit about physics (impact of a 5500 mass on a 2800 pound mass). I do not do that very often, but sometimes after getting cut off four or five times, I lose it and just go. Mr. Speeder upper is going on the shoulder, either to avoid me or because I am bigger. So far, I have not had anyone hit me, but several honk and wave at me as they go off onto the shoulder. I think they are just waving to say "Thanks for not hitting me like I deserved," but they sure have skinny hands. It looks as if they only have one finger.

When I see I have a gap I take it, the signal is but a warning of my move. Speed up if you like, but you're just gonna make yourself mad.

No it's not. A turn signal does not give you the right of way.

5500? Must be a cute little ladies truck. Even a Tahoe weighs more than that. A full size truck is thousands of pounds heavier, you'd better keep that in mind or you won't like the physics lesson you learn.
A turn signal is absolutely a request to come over, and does not entitle you to move over regardless. If you hit someone moving over, at least in Texas, you're at fault.

If I determine a space and get over with a signal and do get over and then you hit me when I'm in the lane because you sped up you are at fault.
Simple, the signal is a warning of my move for your safety.

if there's a gap, sure. The signal is letting that car that's behind that you're coming over. However, if there is no gap, a turn signal means absolutely nothing. Just because you put your signal on does not mean that car that is already there should slow down to you let you in. It's courteous to, but they arent obligated.
