That's a great reason to have a working radio in the car.
However, that's what the court of law is set up for, tell it to the judge and see if he'll buy your story.
if you're hesitant to do this, you must feel a little guilty.

For everyone above how is it different from changing the stations on a radio dial to get a traffic report?

Just one of a million reasons why I would never live in New York.

You don't need to look away from the road or remove your hands from the steering wheel to change the station. I don't even have to do that to change the song on a phone. There's a reason why they put these controls on the steering wheel.

To be fair... you ARE from Alaska. There's not a whole lot of envy from the mainland.

You don't have to take your eyes off the road to hit a preset button or hit the "find" button. The instrument panel was designed to allow for adjustment while keeping the driver's eyes on the road.

I have buttons right on my steering wheel I can press that change my radio stations. So I can keep both hands on the wheel to change the station.

I can also use those same buttons on the steering wheel to change songs on my connected devices, all without removing my eyes from the road.

You were driving while distracted. Pay the fine. Be glad you did not hit someone else or stray into another lane.

Create a driving play list. So the next time you get into the car, you only play the driving play list. No need to change songs.

Steve ing wheel controls or pushing one button is the standard. Taking your eyes off the road is dangerous whether it is a radio, phone or whatever else.

Steering wheel controls are nice

Thats what I'm trying to figure out because I see people everyday looking at their radio to adjust the channel or volume etc. What about when someone looks down for a split second to turn on their air condition or heater??

Every car doesn't have steering wheel buttons. In fact my current vehicle is the first vehicle that I owned that had them.
