Absent data, it's all just opinion = blue sky = not too clever.
Most people do not report data to magazines or websites about their vehicle reliability. Millions of miles reported by a small number of people is nothing when their are 250+ million vehicles on the road.

True, I wouldn't touch them.

I would still go with Toyota and Honda at their heels.

In the past, the most important factor was how durable the parts were. When a part failed, it had to be diagnosed and replaced. That could sometimes cost a lot due to mechanics' incompetence and/or overcharging. But things have changed. The most important thing now is how good the ECU is, and how well it detects and identifies problems. A good ECU can reduce the cost of maintenance drastically. So it's no longer as important for the repairs to be as few and far between. What's important now is the total cost of repairs per amount of driving. It might not be a good idea to assume that the brands that did best on parts durability in the past, do best on ECU quality now.

Ha! I second that.

I'll go Toyota with Honda right behind. And as noted, it's not even close. I'm actually driving a 99 Accord and a 99 Camry right now. If you told me I could have a new 16 Ford Focus I'd sell it or scrap it for parts lol.

For me, Suzuki. For some reason they didnt take off here, but I always thought they were in reality, the image Suburu tries to portray. Ive had Suzuki cars and bikes and they have been totally bulletproof. Cant say enough good about their stuff.

Probably Toyota, I've never owned one (I find them boring and everybody has one), but everyone I know who has one loves them. I've had luck with Nissan over the years so I've stuck by them, my family and I have owned a total of about 12 Nissans since the 80s and each one great, although I find their styling ugly as of late. The only Nissan I didn't like was a 98 Pathfinder, it was a slow gas guzzler.
