Then you have to drive both vehicles home, and both back when you're done with the rental, IF the rental is available at the time you want it in the first place, and if the job takes a bit longer, you're rental cost more. Trust me, when you HAVE the truck, you tend to find that you use it much more often than once ever 18 months.

Funny, I could have typed that post pretty much word for word. Most often I can get back within the hour, so at $19.95 per trip, it will take a lot of trips before the truck investment paid off.

Most overrated for me would be the BMW 3-series. Not that it's all that bad but it's slipped. It's gone from being THE sports sedan that created sports sedans to an also-ran. Audi, Cadillac, and even Lexus (only in F trim) out 3-series the 3-series these days. Heck, from the early press reviews even Jaguar which isn't even know for making cars that are actually fun to drive trumps the 3-series. Meanwhile the C-class which maybe isn't the driver's car of the two has an absolutely stunning interior. It's a far cry from the pretty crappy bean counter special back when the 3-series was on top of the pile.

Lexus F still cannot hold a candle to the 3-series. Too fat.

Needs to be RWD to really compete with the 3 series. But if you're willing to overlook that aspect even Kia is outdoing it with the Optima.

It's far more often than that for me. I also like to buy used things and always seem to have a project going on. It works if you solely buy new from Lowe's, not so much for a Craigslist deal. And uhaul is bananas with their mileage.

when I bought that house it was a good 40-45 minutes from Lowe's or depot. I rented it once, they weren't happy that I want in the stores back yard.

Sorta kinda not really? But only if said 3 series is a 320 compared to an SXL.
