Alas, the time has come to part ways with by Dodge Cummins and move into a 4-door business style car.

I want an American brand that is reliable and still has a bit of pizzazz.

Is there such a thing?

Take a look at the Ford Fusion. I would look at the 2010-2012 model year Fusions, before the redesign. Some of the early model year second generation fusions had teething problems. The Fusion is probably my favorite sedan from an American brand.

Also remember, the Fusion is made in Mexico. A Toyota Camry/Honda Accord is more "American" than a Ford Fusion. The Chevy Malibu is made in the US however before the most recent redesign I would not say that the Malibu had any "pizzazz".

The only other option you have is Dodge/Crystler. Dodge and Chrysler quality leaves lots to be desired and i'd argue that they have failed to produce a competitive sedan.

Honda Accord and Toyota Camry are more American made than Chevy and Ford made Sedans.

I'd look for a 2011-2012 Malibu LT2 or LTZ.

Even though the Malibu and Fusion use the same basic transmission (joint venture), the Fusion has seemed to have more software issues resulting in shift flare, rough shifting, etc..

+1. Automakers are owned shareholders from all over the world. The country that the company is associated with means less than it ever has before. I wouldn't worry too much about trying to get an "american" branded car, just get the car that you like the most.

The Fusion only had slight transmission issues after the 2013 redesign. If you get a Fusion before then than you should be fine.

By pizazz do you mean power and luxury? Buick Regal or Lacrosse.

Look for the GS models in Regal, this is little out of your price range but really low miles.

270HP, it's going to be loaded and you can fit 10 dead bodies in the trunk. LOL

No . The op asked for a car with pizzazz. He would be much better off with a late model used car than a Nissan Versa. The Nissan Versa is a cheap basic econobox, not a good choice if you like cars or want to impress anyone.
