Sorta curious. We had a post while back here when someone said "you'll drive a Porsche and then you look like a rich douche bag".

So what should a wealthy person drive then to NOT look like a douche? Yet, still have it "appropriate"?

Does the opinion of others really affect your real life that much? Drive whatever vehicle you choose and ignore what society deems is appropriate.

Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar, etc. Who cares what the jealous plebes think. Kind of toying with the idea of a Cayman down the road once student loans are paid off. I don't really care about appropriate or what other people think.

Get a Tesla P90 or wait for the new Roadster and smoke the above mentioned cars without burning an ounce of gas.

Then get an off-road SUV or truck powered by a large turbo diesel for adventures and taking shortcuts in heavy tradfic by running over curbs and other obstacles.

That is the big question.........why should anyone care what someone else thinks ? Until people start sending me money, they have zero input into how I spend mine.

Porsche is too common and inexpensive to appear that the driver is rich. Same for Mercedes, Jaguar, BMW and Audi. Even Teslas are all over the place. Around here, to raise eyebrows you must have a Lamborghini, Ferrari, or Bentley.

Who cares, buy what you like.

When I look at Porsche, I don't think douchebag.

What really says pretentious douchebag, in my mind, are luxury SUVs and lifted full size pickups. They are just dripping in pretentiousness, in my opinion. I hate when I'm on the freeway and I see one entering the on-ramp, because then I always have to keep an extra eye on what they are going to do next. SUV drivers always make the most reckless, unpredictable maneuvers. The fact that they are in a giant SUV or truck on top of driving reckless doesn't help anybody either.

But if I see something like a Porsche 911, I think "that guy has a sick ass car", not "that guy must be a douchebag". Maybe I'm just in the minority on this.

It's not the car that makes you a douche, it's the way you drive it.

For the most part yes but when you have a fart muffler on a car you are a douche pretty much. Same with a lifted diesel truck that is so loud and never goes offroad.
