I had AAA for years. I used them for when my car broke down, when it was 100% functional but needed to be dropped off at the dealer for bodywork, as well as to get my working vehicle from a storage facility to my home. Never any issues. You just have to make sure you are present with the vehicle at the time it is towed. They just have certain stipulations I think where they wont tow it to one location and then turn around the next day to tow it somewhere else. It is a one stop shop, unless that has changed.

I will be using GEICO for this. So what should I say when asked for a reason? What did you say when you needed to tow a working car?

It was years ago, but I don't recall ever having to tell them a reason. I also did not go through an insurance company to have it towed so I am sure they differ from agency to agency. Sorry I am not more help for you.
AAA sucks. My Wife has had it for years, never used it. When My Pick up thru the idler pulley and belt . She called AAA.
After a half hour on the cell with them, turns out first mile or 2 was free after that "FULL PRICE PER MILE"
Think it was $1.25 per. {note I was on 27 in Amityville, need to go to East Islip. There tow was comming from Bellmore. Oh and the fee started from there shop.
I can prove it.
"You get what you pay for." (Actually, you get that for which you have paid. )
AAA in Northern California, where I live, has 3 plans. If you belong to their top tier plan, as we do (for which we pay $193 for 2 people), then we are entitled to a 200-mile tow to our mechanic, if that's how far away we are when our car breaks down. We own a much older car (1992) that had some problems (mostly in the past), so the odds are greater that something like that could happen. However, we have not used any roadside services in over 5 years (other than getting numerous complimentary maps and tour books) in all that time.
There are other benefits of membership. However, I have noticed that there is some duplication now, as many credit cards are providing some benefits similar to AAA.
I didn't say that. I checked maps and I can't figure out what you're trying to say. A truck from Bellmore tows a car from Amityville to East Islip. Seems normal to me, but you must have something in mind I haven't thought of. What is it? Keep in mind that I am not the person who was complaining. I'm also not very familiar with Long Island.

I did part time Road Assistance dispatching for GEICO in the 90's. We just didn't send towing companies all over creation for the hell of it.
There are certain questions we'd ask that allowed for your answers to predicate the level of service you would be eligible to receive. I'm sure it's tightened up a lot more since the 90's as well.
If I took your call and uncovered your little ruse, I'd be PO'd and have you blackballed from Road Service asap.
