This. It amazes me how prejudice people are against those who enjoy a BMW or whatever higher end car. BMWs are very good cars that handle and brake well. Personally I drive an Audi that has AWD and gets over 30mpg. It has good enough power and feels very solid when comparing it to other cars from USA and Japan. Strange how people get all jealous over some car. Some folks do research on cars and decide what best suits them. Believe it or not some buy a car like an Audi A4 because it has AWD, gets good fuel economy, is comfortable and well made. Mine has over 145,000 miles on it and still drives like new. Try that with other cars. Most cars would develop some noises and such, but not with German cars, or at least that has been my experience. It isn't always about impressing others, it is about the car itself. BMWs and Audis are really great cars and I would rather buy something that can avoid a crash than some moronic plow vehicle like an SUV that can't get out of its own way.

I just don't understand why in NYC you would want a BMW even if most are leasing them at only $399 a month plus whatever car insurance costs now in NYC the cost of parking or monthly garage payment and maintainence and repairs.

It is well documented that a significant portion of BMW and equivalent are leased and the remainder are financed for 7 years with the registration fees and NYC sales tax of 8.875%

In this day and age everyone is maxed out on debt on depreciating assets like cars, designer clothing and most electronics that are obsolete within 24 months

What does insurance run. I was paying 189 a month back in 2008 for a 2000 Nissan altima before I moved out of Queens. My insurance on a 2012 honda is 93 a month but I live in a suburb 20miles northwest of Boston.

everyone knows there are varying factors for insurance cost. I live in the suburbs right outside nyc, insurance isn't too bad on all 3 of my cars. I pay about 1 grand a year for each car...give or take

I wish more people would recognize that I am a driving god simply because I drive a BMW.

Dang, y'all pay a lot for insurance.

I think bimmer is about $260 per year. (But it is listed as casual use)
Our most expensive car to insure is the Audi A6 and that's just a tad over $300 per year.
