Firs I need you to imagine that sticky sound of something like duct tape peeling off of a smooth surface. Now imagine that sound being made intermittently, at high rpms, kind of like a piece of tape stuck to a grocery cart wheel. Now picture that noise, which can be heard over heavy traffic, coming from an early 2000's Subaru taking off like a bat out of hell from an intersection. I just cant picture what would make that

Turbo wastegate or blow off valve releasing gasses when shifting at speed.
