Wonder how much $ is spent by US motor vehicle operators for no-fault/uninsured motorist coverage state-by-state and nationally. What a strange system we have that penalizes law-abiding motor vehicle operators with higher premiums to offset the costs of those who drive with no insurance and get involved in accidents, but someone caught driving without insurance wouldn't dare be back out on the road right away driving again without insurance - right?

People drive away from the courthouse after they have had their license revoked, I am sure that if they are inclined to drive without insurance they will.

I don't see paying for uninsured/under insured coverage as a penalty. I see it as protection for myself.

The sad part is people that usually don't carry insurance have nothing to lose anyway.

It only seems like a penalty, paying for coverage, if you never have to use it. That's how insurance works; it is a nuisance to pay, but when $hit happens, you are awful glad to have it.

Here in NH, we don't have to have auto insurance. Unless you get a D.U.I. then you have to have it for 3 years. and it is big $. But if you get in a wreck who ever is at falt, Looses their lisence until they pay all damages. If they have no insurance than they loose their car and Lisence. Until it is all paid in full. And you can't bankrupt out of it. If you drive without a Lisence you go to jail for a min 1 year.
