problem like other said is their is no compact truck like the Ranger, Mazda B-series Nissan HardBody, Chevy/GMC S-10/S-15 I believe the Toyota Tacoma offered a the X-Runner lowred factory truck but discontinued after 2013.

Loved the day's when people dropped 350/383 Small block Chevy's in S-10/S-15 and Blazers and Mada B2200 and 302/351ci Windsors in Rangers they were as fast or faster then factory Mustang GT's at the time in late 90's early 00's. Was good times in the PNW

Most trucks today are freaking expensive. To get anything other than a base model stripper work truck you're jumping in 30k. Tacomas are great trucks but who has 30k to spend as a first car?
I still see lowered trucks both full size and mini but mostly I see lowered cars like Hondas. Usually older cars. I dont think as many people hop up their vehicles anymore. The accessorize things like wheels tires stereos, tint, body kits. Imo due to the expense of the parts and some smog legalities people dont want to lose their warranties and as warranties are 50/100k that's a long time before tearing into the engine
There is still a race movement because if you look on YouTube it's full of street racing videos. Lots of kids just want a car that looks cool. They throw a air intake a front spoiler, a few stickers tint and a muffler call it a day and think they got 40 hp.
I also think that when we were kids we had the chance or opportunity to buy muscle cars or sports cars cheap. Now most of those muscle cars (IMO due to so many shows) people want butt loads of money. I remember looking for a 72 Mach 1 to restore. After that Gas monkey show did a Mach 1 resto the asking prices literally doubled overnight. I gave up restoring one for now

Yeah it is still around. Scrapin' the coast is a pretty big annual show which seems to attract a lot of them.
