I have to agree with those who say, just keep using whatever oil is working for you. In my case, a VW TDI that has had Mobil 1 5w40 or Mobil Delvac 1 5w40 since the first oil change when the car was new, is still running fine after 602,000 miles. I am not going to switch to a cheaper conventional or blended oil now, when the engine could conceivably run for another 600k miles. And since I have no idea how long the rest of the car will last, I'm going to just assume that it will last as long as I want it to.

IMHO, if you switch to synthetic, and then your car shows oil leaks, your car has oil leaks and they need to be fixed.

High mileage oils are both varieties.

I use Mobil 1 high mileage in a couple of my cars and it is synthetic.
