Documentation is more important than ever... whether it be in the Dealer Database or Customer Records.
Part of every Arbitration includes vehicle inspection... I had a buyback case and the owner made a convincing presentation... upon inspection the vehicle had been subject to at least one major collision and not properly repaired... turned out the vehicle had a salvage title... it floated down a river!
Although the car had only 2,026 miles. The car was a year old.
A warning light comes on dashboard stating to get vehicle serviced. The 10,000 mile/one year service.
The vehicle is a 6 cylinder.
This $412.00 was for the first oil change and the 10,000 mile "checkup".
So this vehicle got the oil changed and the 10,000 mile "checkup".
Nothing was wrong with vehicle. Oil was changed. And a vehicle "look over".
Note: Part of the $412.00 was a $20.00 oil disposal fee (for the old oil)
No.
Schedule A is at 10k miles or 1 year. Whichever comes first.

It may be the issue of warranty. How do you prove you changed your own oil, and done it "properly?"
I keep a folder with my synthetic oil and quality oil filter receipts. I can also articulate to an arbitrator the oil change process. That will never be an issue if I ever have a warranty issue.
If it were me I would have told them to reset the service light and change the oil. There's no need to do the 10k inspection at 2k, I don't care how long the vehicle has been on the lot. If anything I'd eyeball the tires and be on my way.
Maybe. BMW also does 1 year/10k miles.
But schedule A is at 1 year. Not 6 months like the op said originally.
Updates are faboo, aren't they?
Thus ends the controversy of this whole thread. Bc it was time for maintenance.
The end.
Mine is approximately 15k miles between changes which BMW covers in full with there included initial maintenance plan.
There was and action about 15 years ago where owners said BMW also recommended 15k or 1 year intervals and the no charge service would not accommodate one year complimentary changes for those low mileage drivers and the rules were changed.
BMW also recommended Brake Fluid replacement... but the Dealers would not offer unless prompted...
I also received a no cost Brake Fluid service but I had to ask for it...
My bought new 1985 Chevrolet Service Truck is changed every 2,500 miles... it is heavily loaded "Empty" and in 31 years no engine issues at 180k or severe service in the San Francisco area.
