GM is adding a 3rd shift to their Spring Hill, TN plant that builds the Cadillac XT5 and GMC Acadia.

650 additional jobs.
The XT5's predecessor, the SRX, was built in Mexico.

No comments. Apparently no one likes to sing the praises of positive moves, only bash on manufacturers when they are an easy target or it can bait an argument over UAW pros/cons.

And as noted, the manufacturers move product around based on financial sense. That Mexico plant is will now take over production of the new Cruze (low value product) from Lordstown, OH over the next couple of years. The plan is to manufacturer a new compact Cadillac (high value product) in Lordstown within a few years.

Only the hatchback is made in Mexico.
Lordstown is at capacity, Three shifts running fill tilt. All of the sedans are being made there.
If sales slow, production of the hatch will move to Ohio.

Nothing scheduled to change before 2020, which would be about the time the next gen products début.
